Recently, the reconstruction and expansion project of the Xi'an-Yongshou section of the national expressway Fuyin (G70) is progressing smoothly. Constructed by Shaanxi Transportation Holding Group, this project is the first ten-lane expressway in Northwest China and a key project for transportation infrastructure construction in Shaanxi Province. The project starts at the Liucunbao Interchange on the Xi'an Ring Expressway, passes through Xi'an, Xixian New Area, and Xianyang, and ends north of the Yongshou South Interchange, with a total length of 79.099 kilometers and a total investment of 13.126 billion yuan. The construction period is three years, officially commencing on October 28, 2025, and is expected to be fully operational by December 2028.

The project adopts a widening and expansion model on both sides or partly on one side, implementing differentiated technical standards in three sections. The section from Liucunbao to Xianyang North Interchange is a two-way ten-lane expressway with a roadbed width of 54 meters, while the other two sections are two-way eight-lane expressways. The design speed for the entire line is 120 kilometers per hour. The project is massive in scale, comprising 12 interchanges, including 2 newly built ones, along with 2 service areas, 2 maintenance work areas, and a connecting road to the Qianxian Interchange. It also requires specialized treatment of 91% of the collapsible loess roadbed, involving the construction, reconstruction, and utilization of dozens of bridges, over a hundred underpasses, and hundreds of culverts.

As of February 2026, the project is progressing smoothly. The first pile foundation has been poured, and the first integrated facility has been completed and put into operation. Bridge pile foundation and roadbed treatment are now fully underway. Adhering to the concepts of smart and green construction, the project deploys sensors every 2 kilometers, utilizing 5G+BeiDou navigation for lane-level monitoring, and promotes prefabricated construction. Topsoil backfilling and vegetation restoration rates have both reached 95%, balancing engineering quality with ecological protection.

Upon completion, the project will serve as a model of "smart construction + smart operation," effectively alleviating traffic pressure in the Guanzhong region, further strengthening the radiating and driving role of the Xi'an metropolitan area, providing strong support for the construction of Xi'an International Comprehensive Transportation Hub and Xianyang International Airport International Aviation Hub, and playing an important role in promoting the coordinated development of the regional economy and society.
